Brian McNicoll is the one of the most experienced coaches in Northern Virginia. He has coached for more than 30 years, beginning in Louisiana and continuing here.
This will be his 10th year coaching in the McLean Select Basketball program and his 14th year overall coaching in McLean. His select teams have reached the finals in five times in the 10 years he has coached McLean Select and have been in at least the semifinals eight times.
He routinely coaches two teams in both the county leagues and in the spring/summer Matrix AAU program, which means, combining fall, winter and summer leagues, he coaches more than 120 games per year.
McNicoll, who has coached at least three players who went on to Division I basketball, employs a high-pressure, high-octane style which keeps all the players involved and relies on them for on-floor decision making.

Philosophy: Coach Irons believes that basketball and really all sports should be fun, imparting life lessons along the way. Kids should enjoy coming to practice, playing in games, and watching their skills continue to improve. Practices will be structured with drills to continue building on the fundamentals of basketball as well as more detailed plays and concepts to prepare the girls for high school play.
